On entrance, a two-tiered swimming pool with a cascade waterfall, surrounded by hammocks, wooden sunbeds and stylishly stacked surfboards. A cosy bar, fitness corner (the gym) and a floating flamingo. We immediately felt at home; the space invites intimacy and closeness, yet space and comfort. All travellers' needs are met, whether you’re searching for calm, fun or connection. 

Health, wellbeing and soulfulness ooze through the building walls, and the staff create a calming welcoming buzz which is relaxing, yet playful. They know your needs before you do; whether it be a sunhat, a towel or a menu, all are presented with impeccable timing. 

I've dreamt of places like this on all of my travels, but none have quite achieved what Casa de Olas has. Each room presents a chakra or element with a certain aim to inspire and rejuvenate. The rooftop studio offers daily yoga, meditation and fitness classes, while boosting views over the vibrant and floral Puerto Escondido.

You can spend your days relaxing by the pool, playing tennis, or sparking conversations with other like-minded souls. Between the library lounge, rooftop bar and fitness corner, it's a place where you could stay for months at a time. Within a moment’s walk you’re next to the bars, restaurants and La Punta Zicatela, a long stunning beach where crowds gather for the evening sunsets. It's a rare spot which you never want to leave. 

Matt’s dream was to create a space which leaves its guests glowing; feeling rejuvenated and revitalised. He wanted to offer a refreshing break from big resort holiday consumption. In doing so, he created a special sanctuary for all that pass through. We never wanted to leave, and when we did, we came away transformed.
