Origins
Completed in 2005, the Hanging Gardens of Bali was built by 700 local craftsmen who came together using traditional materials and adopting indigenous ideas to make the dream a reality. The hotel is built with Feng Shui principles to mean infinity and stability of energy, crucial factors considering the resort is built on a 45 degree slope!
Top Secret
The hotel prides itself of providing complete privacy and serenity within your villa - something which you can enjoy most of the time. However, if you’re lucky, you may be payed a visit by cheeky monkey or two as you relax in your pool! Talk about a true jungle experience!
The Review
The approach to the Hanging Gardens of Bali gives you a sense of travelling to a secret destination hidden in the jungle. On arrival, you are not confronted by a large imposing building, but rather an open and airy reception nestled subtly amongst the surrounding rainforest, complete with immaculate decor. You are greeted by attentive staff who offer a refreshing drink, towel and a chocolatey treat - a great first impression!
After a breezy check-in, you descend by funicular from the reception through the jungle to the villas. A great way to sense the magic of the location from the moment you arrive. The whole while, you are assisted by polite and friendly staff who make you feel very welcome.
The villa itself is something to behold. No expense is spared and no detail missed in making you feel like royalty. From the bath robes embodied with the gold emblem of Hanging Gardens, to the enormous and sumptuous bed, everything about the space says luxury. Traditional Balinese design is incorporated with opulent contemporary touches, making for an extremely attractive and comfortable stay. The highlight, of course, is the private pool overlooking the surrounding rainforest.
The main pool is otherworldly, with two tiers of infinity pool jutting out on the steep hillside, providing a stunning tropical backdrop for your dip. A lovely touch was being brought complimentary cold bottles of water while you soak up the sun in one of the plentiful poolside beds.
The food was exceptional. The floating boat dinner experience from the privacy of our villa pool was something we will never forget, and there are a wide variety of fabulous cocktails on offer at the bar. The afternoon tea is included, and is a welcome treat to break up the day. The breakfast will please all, with an a la carte menu as well as a plentiful and varied buffet. All the options are fantastic - the best part is that you don’t have to choose!
Upon checkout, you are treated like royalty until the moment you leave. No need to worry about carrying your bags - staff will take them straight to your taxi.
