Eco Hotels

Sustainability claims in hospitality are uneven. Some properties run genuine programmes: composting, locally-sourced energy, rewilding the surrounding land, hiring and training from the immediate community. Others print "eco-luxury" on the towel cards and call it a programme. Our editors are slow to add hotels to this category — and quick to remove them when a claim turns out to be marketing rather than practice. The properties here are the ones we'd defend in a conversation with a sceptic. Each carries a full Expert Review noting what the property actually does on the ground: where the food comes from, how the energy is generated, what the property's relationship with the surrounding land and people genuinely looks like. Travel can't be made zero-impact, but the right hotel can make the impact substantively smaller — and contribute usefully to the place hosting it. These are those hotels.
