About Our Award
In 2010 we set out to find the independent hotels a well-travelled guest would cross a country for, and we have been doing it since. A hotel reaches the shortlist by nomination, from travel writers, people in the industry or the hotel itself, and an inspector then stays and works through our 400-point Quality Assessment. Only after that does the Awards Panel vote for the regional winners and the World's Best. Winners join the Boutique Hotel Club, where members book them at the privileged rates the Club holds for them.

Nomination
Travel writers and people in the industry nominate hotels, and hotels may nominate themselves. Every nomination is checked before it reaches the shortlist.

Independent Evaluation
An inspector stays at each shortlisted hotel and works through our 400-point Quality Assessment, from the welcome at the door to the bill on departure.
Winner Selection
The Awards Panel reads the inspectors' reports and votes for the regional winners and the World's Best Boutique Hotels.
Award Announcement
Each year's winners are announced in a press release, and every past announcement is kept in the ceremony archive.
