Origins
This true relic from 1844 has been in the same family since 1900, managed through multiple generations. In 1979, Dr. Roberto de Ornelas, one of the most esteemed surgeons in Madeira and Portugal, acquired the property. By 2001, the Manor House was transformed into a luxury Quinta hotel, preserving the charm and history of Madeira while building more buildings and adding modern amenities like a swimming pool and tennis court. Dr. de Ornelas passed away two years ago, and his son, Gonçalo, now serves as one of the hotel’s directors.
