Origins
Rancho Valencia originally opened its doors in 1989, but the $30million face-lift in 2012 that spared no expense, more importantly, demonstrated the true ethos of the owners through validating the staff it considers to be family. Through the eyes of those on the front line, every aspect was carefully tailored, from the design of the kitchen to the housekeeping staff having input on what hairdryers would best suit the needs of guests. At Rancho Valencia, a well-run organisation has backed its management to deliberately pick the right staff members with which to deliver excellence to guests, this in turn leaves guests with no choice but to crave a return to the resort.

Located approximately 25 miles north of San Diego, the diversity of the environment and ability for privacy sets the resort apart. Suites offer intimate and relaxing venues for guests as well as the spacious communal amenities, most, delicately encased in shrubs and Mediterranean-inspired vegetation.
Rancho Valencia hosts 49 hacienda style suites including luxury villas and guesthouses, with a deliberate emphasis on a Mediterranean theme. All of the suites as well as the communal and dining areas have been delicately furnished to exude the Spanish character of the resort. Wood décor of restaurant has been nicely renovated to give a coastal ranch feel. The design really offers diversity, from intimate fireplace romance, to long tables allowing for parties of 10 plus.
Rancho Valencia offers guests exquisite dining catered delicately to desired experience. Whether opting for the Veladora restaurant or the Pony Room, the food quality is consistently excellent. The menu is prepared with locally sourced ingredients, hand-picked by the chef from the local farmer’s market. Portions are appropriately sized to entice the taste buds without overpowering them, allowing for a perfect opportunity to pair with wine. All the food and beverage options at Rancho Valencia are well run from the top down. Initiatives and projects are supported from ownership, which allows those on the front line to excel in delivering a brilliant dining experience.
Below the two restaurants is the wine cave. Wine tastings offered by the sommelier are deliberate and well executed to offer a balanced experience, challenging and rewarding the taste buds rather than simply overwhelming them.
Extensive health and wellness activities are offered from yoga and Pilates classes in the newly renovated yoga pavilion, as well as state of the art gym and spin facilities for guests wanting more cardio workouts. Rancho Valencia has an award-winning tennis facility that offers players of all levels a world-class setting to enjoy the game.
