Expert Review
Origins
Under The Stars was built in 2013 on Tambisaan Beach, on the quiet southeastern shore of Boracay, deliberately away from the bars and crowds of White Beach on the far side of the island. The idea was straightforward: large, properly serviced beachfront apartments for travellers who want the space of a private villa and the run of a quiet beach, rather than a room in a resort.
Family-owned and managed on site, it is a small operation of four three-bedroom apartments and a penthouse, each around 500 square metres, set in a garden that runs to the sand. The character comes from the scale and the service rather than from a grand design statement: polished hardwood floors, sea-facing terraces, a communal pool, and a resident team that handles everything from the chauffeured van to a private chef. It suits anyone who values privacy and room to spread out over the buzz of the main strip.
Top Secret
Snorkel straight off the beach toward Crocodile Island, one of Boracay's better-known reefs, or have the team set up a private boat trip from the doorstep; the chef will cook the day's catch back at the apartment.

The Review
Boracay is famous for White Beach, four kilometres of powder sand, bars and crowds on the island's west side. Under The Stars is the opposite proposition: a small block of beachfront apartments on Tambisaan, the quiet southeastern shore, where the draw is space, privacy and a beach you can have largely to yourself. For families, groups and anyone who finds the main strip exhausting, that trade is the whole point.
The apartments are the headline. Each runs to around 500 square metres over three ensuite bedrooms, with an open-plan living area and a terrace the length of the unit facing the morning sea; the master suites are vast, the kitchens full, and the scale is what guests remember. They are comfortable and well-finished rather than cutting-edge in design, and being a 2013 build, the look is more relaxed-modern than brand-new; it is the room to spread out, not a style statement, that sells them.
What lifts the stay is the service. For a self-catering property this is unusually hands-on: a butler, live-in housekeeping, a chauffeured van, grocery runs and a private chef who will cook fresh seafood in your kitchen, since there is no restaurant on site. Guests consistently single out the staff, and the value, more than one comparing it favourably to the island's big-name luxury resorts at a fraction of the cost. The communal pool, garden and private beach round it out.
It is not for everyone. There is no restaurant and few food options within walking distance, so you lean on the chef and the van; the beach is scenic and quiet but has swells and a marked no-swim zone in places, so it is not the wadeable lagoon some expect of Boracay. But for a spacious, well-served, genuinely private beachfront base away from the crowds, ideally taken whole by a family or group, Under The Stars is among the most distinctive stays on the island.
