Origins
Zorah was opened in September 2013 by Sumeet Dhillona, whose dream was to bring the beauty of Indian cuisine and Asian design to converge upon the magnificent coastline of Brazil.
Top Secret
When the beach hits low tide, natural swimming pools are formed along the shoreline – head out to snorkel, or simply float, to enjoy a ‘natural massage’ from the gentle currents of sea and wind.
The Review
Zorah Beach Hotel has a long list of things it excels at – delicious Indian gastronomy, a kitesurfing school and a top-class spa that draws upon ancient Asian massage and treatment techniques, to name just a few. These are seamlessly combined to create a fresh and alluring atmosphere, where the possibilities feel as vast and impressive as the sunrise you’ll see painted across the sky during a morning yoga session on the beach.
The Zorah Beach Hotel uses décor and art drawn from across India, Bali and the Middle East to curate a setting where relaxation has been elevated to a fine art. Look out for antiques sourced from historic Indian Haveli mansions, alongside painted furniture from Rajasthan and pottery from Jaipur. The glittering of chandeliers and brass fixtures from Turkey and Morocco, add a magical, otherworldly feel. This paradisiacal atmosphere is continued in the hotel’s gardens, where guests can stop and smell the flowers for a moment of true serenity.
Guajirú is the perfect place to kitesurf, thanks to its uncanny balance of temperature and wind – the best time is between August and December when guests can use Zorah’s very own kitesurfing school to explore the ocean and nearby lagoons. After a long day exploring, guests will be keen to explore the gastronomic delights of the restaurant, with its menu curated by Indian chef Taslim Ahmed. Finally, sunsets are a daily spectacular – head to the hotel’s on-site beach bar to enjoy the view in a prime position with a glass of champagne.
