Patrick and Yens, the co-owners, gave up their highflying high-tech careers in Seattle to realise their dream of building a truly environmentally sustainable and exclusive boutique resort in Drake Bay, where Yens grew up. They are proud of catering to their guests’ every need and providing a worry free stay.
Top Secret
Drake Bay Getaway Resort is probably the only place on the Osa peninsula with an espresso machine. Try the caramel frappe, made with homemade ice-cream, it is highly addictive.

The Review
Getting to the resort is an adventure in itself. Whilst it is possible to fly to Drake Bay from San Jose in 50 minutes, for those with more time, the boat ride from Sierpe through the otherworldly mangroves sets the scene for what will be a spectacular stay.
Yens and Patrick, the owners of this special place, will welcome you and drive you to the Drake Bay Café where you will be greeted with a heavenly fruit smoothie made fresh from local fruits. The café is the social center of the resort where the mouthwatering, locally sourced and beautifully presented meals are served and where guests can try the delicious smoothies, frappes and other coffee specialties any time of day and all inclusive.
The design of the resort itself is a big part of the experience and its getaway feel. The cabins are laid out on a hill and designed so that you feel immersed in the spectacular surroundings. They are constructed from locally sourced sustainably farmed teak wood with a fully glass front and beautiful balconies overlooking the ocean and the jungle. The bathrooms boast spectacular views over the jungle and have two rain showers. A unique passive cooling system means that no air conditioning is necessary. Overall, this creates an incredibly romantic setting for any holiday. From the privacy of your room, you can watch spectacular sunsets and sunrises over the bay.
Yens and Patrick encourage guests to immerse themselves in the surrounding natural beauty by taking advantage of the variety of world class tours on offer, ranging from discovering Corcovado National Park, snorkeling or diving at Caño Island, one of the best spots in Costa Rica, dolphin and whale watching (from August to October), night tours with the famous Bug Lady and many more.
