Origins
The Remote Resort was founded by Australian Hotelier Dan Dimmock, opening in 2013. Having been made redundant during the recession he realised it was his chance to go on his own and create a hotel with the ultimate personalised guest experience. His wife inspired him to choose Fiji as a location and from conception to opening The Remote Resort consumed three and a half years of his life. It was a one man show at the beginning and he even slept in a tent for a year on sight!
Top Secret
When you arrive at The Remote Resort you will be welcomed with a Fijian song and dance, which is sure to get you into the island spirit!
The best time to visit Fiji is from May to the end of November when the climate is at its best, a tropical average temperature of 31 degrees celsius.
The Review
As you sail across the world-famous Rainbow Reef you will be faced with a 64-acre island, where the jungle meets the shoreline and quite simply offers you the best of both worlds. The Remote Resort delivers on its name. Situated on a former coconut plantation on the island of Venua Levu. It is immediately apparent upon arrival why this island is renowned for its natural beauty and warmth to the local people. With four exquisite and lavishly furnished villas that offer wonderful views of the resort with floor to ceiling windows, complete with a spacious daybed and saltwater plunge pool. Understated luxury is the key at The Remote Resort, with simple design letting the surrounding natural beauty take precedence.
If the explorer in you wants to venture beyond the hotel, day trips can be taken to a waterfall on the island, staff will accompany you and provide an excellent hamper of freshly prepared food and drink, tending to your every need whilst also allowing you your own personal space. For a more action-based day, scuba diving can be arranged and is only a 20-minute boat ride away. Rainbow Reef is home to some of the world’s best diving locations and is famous for its soft coral forests and crystal clear waters, definitely not something to be missed.
The Main Pavilion restaurant is open for breakfast, lunch, and dinner and never fails to deliver fresh and locally sourced food. It is indeed a pleasurable rarity to eat fish caught right by the resort that day and coconuts fallen from trees around your villa. To round off the evening, one can enjoy an ice-cold, fresh-fruit cocktail and take in the oceanic views from the restaurant, which are superb. The Remote Resort is the perfect oasis for travellers seeking a genuine feeling of comfortable isolation in a tropical setting.
