Silver Island Yoga

Silver Island is the only private island yoga retreat in the world.

Much of the magic that lies in Greece is found on the Greek Islands and this is certainly the case here. It is no wonder why this 60-acre island got its name, thanks to the 2,500 shimmering olive trees, when the sun is shining the island actually appears silver from the mainland. Lissa and her charming husband Corné will be your hosts for week and they will make sure you feel right at home. The moment you arrive on Silver Island you immediately feel a sense of calm as you listen to the Aegean Sea lapping against the shoreline and feel the warmth of the sunshine caress your back. Butterflies frolic through the air that is warm with the scent of pine and fresh flowers, as Lissa and her dog Lulu take you on a guided tour of the island. The island’s accommodation only has space for 10 guests at any one time, which makes this retreat a very intimate and exclusive experience. With a mix of traditional and contemporary designs, each of the rooms are tastefully furnished and individual in their design, showcasing Lissa’s artistic talent. Four hours of daily yoga takes place in an open-air platform with panoramic views of the mountains and the Aegean Sea. Between classes, guests generally meander off to crash out on the sunbeds at Jetti Beach, take a scroll to the lighthouse, or head to the meditation platform, where in perfect stillness you can watch life passing you by. Breakfast, lunch and dinner are made up of lovingly prepared delicious Mediterranean-inspired vegetarian meals from the freshest, organic, seasonal ingredients, either locally grown or locally sourced and are served communally on the terrace overlooking the Aegean Sea. Those seeking a more active day can grab some snorkels and head out in search of lost treasure. Or, take a kayak trip in search of dolphins and the resident seal, Mr. Rob. Silver Island prides itself on employing environmental practices wherever possible. With no mains electricity, the facilities use a generator and solar power to heat water that is collected from the winter’s rainfall. On this island, with limited signal and no Wi-Fi, guests should expect to leave feeling like they have found themselves again.
