The Review
Many find the fawning, overindulgence of some Pacific establishment’s all-inclusive deals to be a little too much to stomach. This is where Te Manava steps in. Built on the southeast coast of Rarotonga, this collection of luxury villas offer guests the chance to become self-sufficient, self-contained; as if you were renting a cottage that just happened to be paradise. Yet the true brilliance is not that Te Manava offers this private experience; it's that they allow you to cheat.
If you want to cook in your villa’s fully functional kitchen, the staff will bring you the freshest local ingredients from around the island. Indeed if like us, you change your mind after an exhausting day of lounging on the beach, the hotel will provide you with a private chef and a five-course meal.
Of particular note though is the hotel’s spa. As if the gentle washing of the surf on the lagoon was not calming enough, the spa offers a thorough and bespoke package of therapies. Ranging from homemade Akari coconut body scrubs to full body Balinese massages involving flower petals, hot stones and unabashed relaxation. Tranquil does not even come close to describing this experience. There are of course days when relaxation is not on the cards when the outside world beckons and the words ‘carpe diem’ are etched onto your mind. For such scenarios the hotel comes equipped with coconut husking, beach volleyball or you can hire a scooter and explore the whole island in a day.
