The Manor House at Fancourt

In preparation for a guest with a predilection for gin and tonics made just right, the Manor House imported limes from abroad when South Africa ran out of the essential fruit.

The Manor House offers the boutique hotel experience at Fancourt, a 600-hectare golfer’s paradise. To label the Manor House either a ‘golfing hotel’ or even the classier cousin of the larger Fancourt Hotel, however, would overlook the unique experience it offers in its own right. From arrival and until departure the service is second to none. Even in the far corners of the grounds, every concierge, bellhop and barman seemed to know our names and where we were staying. They may have known much more– guest services manager Roxanne Marais ensures staff are armed with names, descriptions and even photos of the arriving guests - a remarkable use of social and professional networks and the hotel’s dedication to the provision of “service excellence”.

The Manor House makes use of the facilities of the larger hotel, but organised and transported by your personal butler, retains an air of exclusivity. In addition to the world-class golf courses – of which there are three - the hotel is rightfully proud of its superb spa. Recently redecorated, the Roman baths are perfectly positioned to soak up the sun along with the view of the stunning Outeniqua mountain range that stretches into the distance. Within the spa, the beauty salon and treatment rooms offer a dazzling array of skin and body therapies including the signature hot basalt stone experience to complement any massage. The décor at the Manor House is immaculate, a bold modern-classic design of white, black and bursts of vibrant colour. Set against the rolling green landscape, it might sound incongruous but works perfectly and there is beauty in every room.
