Expert Review
Origins
The resort sits on Laem Tong, a quiet beach on the far northern tip of Phi Phi Don, the larger of Thailand's two Phi Phi islands. It is a rare thing on Phi Phi: a calm, coral-fringed stretch of national-park coast, reached only by boat, well removed from the crowded bays of Tonsai and Loh Dalum that give the island its party reputation. Limestone cliffs rise from clear water, the reefs are close in, and the pace is slow.
The property has a history. For years this was the Zeavola Resort, a much-loved, independently run eco-hotel of indoor-outdoor village-style villas, known for its wood-and-thatch design, its refusal of single-use plastic and its connection to the local Urak Lawoi sea community. In 2026 it reopened, renovated and rebranded, as Outrigger Phi Phi Island Resort, expanded to 63 suites and villas but keeping much of what made the original special: the indoor-outdoor villas, some in the gardens, some on the sand, some raised on the hillside with private pools; the green ethos; and the barefoot, unhurried island feel. It remains a place designed for slow days by a quiet sea, diving and boat trips from the beach, and long evenings under the stars, rather than for nightlife.
Top Secret
A wedding tradition survives from the resort's earlier life: couples who marry here plant a coconut palm and mark it with their names, so the gardens are dotted with little signs of past celebrations, a grove that has grown tree by tree over the years.

The Review
Outrigger Phi Phi Island Resort has one of the best addresses on Phi Phi: Laem Tong, a quiet beach on the island's northern tip, inside a national park and reached only by boat. On an island famous for its day-tripper crowds and party bays, this is the calm end, a coral-fringed stretch of white sand backed by limestone cliffs, where the appeal is slow days by the water rather than nightlife.
The resort opened in 2026 on the site of the former Zeavola, a much-loved independent eco-hotel, renovated and rebranded under the Outrigger name and enlarged to 63 suites and villas. It keeps the original's best ideas: indoor-outdoor villas in a wood-and-thatch village style, some tucked in the gardens, some opening straight onto the sand, and others raised on the hillside with private infinity pools and long sea views, along with a genuine environmental streak, no single-use plastic and reef-friendly practices carried over from before.
Days here are shaped by the sea. There is a beachfront pool and a lap pool, a spa that keeps the Zeavola name, and above all a PADI dive centre making the most of a setting where reefs, leopard sharks and dramatic dive sites lie just offshore; longtail boat trips, snorkelling and beach picnics round it out. Two restaurants handle the dining, from all-day Thai and international food to grilled seafood on the sand, with live music by the water at night, and there is a kids' club for families.
Two honest notes. This is a newly reopened resort still settling in, and its national-park setting means the odd mosquito and a genuinely away-from-it-all location: boat access only, so you come to stay put. But for a calm, green, boat-in beach base on the quiet side of one of Thailand's most beautiful islands, with superb diving on the doorstep, Outrigger Phi Phi Island Resort is among the most appealing places to stay on Phi Phi.
