An all-suite beachfront hotel in central Hua Hin where every one of the 60 suites has a private pool, with a saltwater infinity pool, a rooftop bar and the night market nearby.

Collection:

Need To Know

  • 60 suites, every one with its own private plunge pool and terrace, from 80-square-metre Sky Pool Suites to the two-floor, 300-square-metre Nidhrarom Suite, the only one with a sea view.
  • On the beach in central Hua Hin, a short walk from the night market and town, and about 15 minutes from Hua Hin airport.
  • A beachfront saltwater infinity pool, the Rocks restaurant, the On the Rocks rooftop bar, the Cape Spa, a gym, and cooking and boxing classes.
  • The private suite pools are plunge-sized rather than for laps; the large communal pool is the one for swimming.
  • Our Favourite Suites: a Deluxe Sky Pool Suite for the pool-to-bathroom swimway, or the Nidhrarom for the sea view and space.

Check in - Check out

Check in from 14:00; check out before 12:00.

We Love

  • The suites. Every one, from the entry-level Sky Pool Suites up, has its own private pool and terrace, so a plunge is always steps from the bed.
  • The location. Right on the sand in central Hua Hin, yet a short walk from the night market, restaurants and the buzz of the town.
  • The main pool. A saltwater infinity pool faces the beach, lit from below at night, edged with sunloungers and timber cabana day-beds.
  • The rooftop bar. On the Rocks looks out over the Gulf, the spot for a sunset drink before dinner at the beachfront Rocks restaurant below.
  • The conscience. A genuinely ethical kitchen, no shark fin, foie gras or bird's nest, no single-use plastic, and a firm stand against elephant tourism.

Origins

Cape Nidhra takes its name from the idea of sleep and rest, and delivers on it with an unusual promise: an all-suite hotel where every single suite, from the smallest upward, has its own private pool. It sits in the middle of Hua Hin, the long-established Thai seaside town on the Gulf coast, three hours or so south of Bangkok and long a favourite weekend escape for the capital, right on the sand yet within walking distance of the night markets and town.

The appeal is space and privacy in a central spot. Rather than sprawl, the hotel stacks a run of generous contemporary suites, in pale wood, rattan and soft coastal tones, each with a terrace and a plunge pool, ranging from the 80-square-metre Sky Pool Suites up to the two-floor, 300-square-metre Nidhrarom Suite, the only one to face the sea. Between the suites and the beach lies a large saltwater infinity pool, lit from below after dark, with the Rocks restaurant and a rooftop bar alongside. It is part of Cape and Kantary, an independent Thai hotel group with a notably ethical streak: the kitchens serve no shark fin, foie gras or bird's nest, the hotel avoids single-use plastic, and it takes a public stand against the exploitation of elephants for tourism. The result is a polished, grown-up beachfront base that puts a private pool and the town's life within equal reach.

Top Secret

The Deluxe Sky Pool Suites hide a neat trick: a shallow water channel, a swimway, runs from the bathroom straight out to the private pool, so you can slip from the shower into your own pool without crossing the bedroom.

The Review

Cape Nidhra makes a simple promise and keeps it: every suite has its own private pool. That alone sets this all-suite hotel apart on the beach at Hua Hin, the long-established Thai seaside town on the Gulf coast, and it does so from an enviable spot, right on the sand yet a short walk from the night markets and the heart of town.

The suites are the reason to come. There are around sixty, all contemporary and generously sized, in pale wood, rattan and coastal tones, each with a terrace and a private plunge pool. They climb from the 80-square-metre Sky Pool Suites, through duplex Moonlight Suites and family-friendly Garden Suites, to the flagship Nidhrarom, a 300-square-metre, two-floor suite with a long pool and the hotel's only sea view. One honest point: these private pools are plunge-sized, lovely for a cool-off but not for lengths, so the large saltwater infinity pool between the suites and the beach, lit from below at night, is the one for actual swimming.

The rest is well judged. The Rocks restaurant does beachfront dining under a sloped glass roof, the On the Rocks rooftop bar catches the sunsets, and the Cape Spa, gym and a roster of classes, cooking, Muay Thai, yoga, fill the days for those who want more than the beach. What gives the place character beyond the pools is a genuine ethical streak, run by an independent Thai group that refuses shark fin, foie gras and bird's nest, cuts out single-use plastic and stands against elephant tourism.

It is worth knowing what it is: a central, town-beach hotel rather than a resort set well apart, best suited to couples and to anyone who values a private pool and the buzz of Hua Hin on the doorstep over isolation. The beach shelves gently and is better for paddling than swimming. But for a stylish, ethical, all-suite base with your own pool and the town at your feet, Cape Nidhra is among the most appealing places to stay in Hua Hin.
