Origins
Bliss Sanctuary for Women was founded by Zoe Watson, who set it up after struggling to find a wellness stay that offered solitude and flexibility without the regimented schedule of a group retreat. The result is a deliberately small, women-only operation: somewhere a woman can travel alone without being alone, rest on her own timetable, and be looked after closely rather than processed through a programme.
The model is unusual, and worth understanding before booking. This is not a conventional hotel — it is an all-inclusive, women-only retreat, with no couples and no children, that takes a handful of guests at a time. The Seminyak sanctuary has five rooms and a maximum of six guests, with three hostesses on hand, and the stay bundles in unlimited spa treatments, yoga, meals and a personal driver, all on a flexible, choose-your-own-day basis rather than a fixed itinerary. Guests dine together most evenings, which for solo travellers is much of the appeal.
The setting is a quiet alley in Seminyak, southern Bali's shopping-and-beach district, close enough to walk to the action but tucked away from it. The rooms lean bohemian-Indonesian — cane and teak, crisp white linen, leafy indoor-outdoor bathrooms with stone baths — and cluster around a pool, gardens and poolside cabanas where treatments are given. It is run by the same small group as two further sanctuaries elsewhere on the island, but each is booked and experienced as its own intimate house. For the solo female traveller, the woman recovering from burnout, or anyone who wants a soft, unhurried week of being looked after, it occupies a niche almost nothing else in Bali fills.
Top Secret
Pack something for the evening. The hostesses often gather guests for a sunset cocktail at one of Seminyak's rooftop bars, and a stay tends to fall into an easy rhythm of shared dinners and outings rather than solitary room service — which, for a solo traveller who came partly for the company, is rather the point.

The Review
Bliss Sanctuary for Women is unlike anything else we list in Bali, and it is important to be clear about what it is: a small, all-inclusive, women-only wellness retreat, not a conventional hotel. No couples, no children — it is built specifically for women travelling alone or with a friend, and that single fact is what makes or breaks its appeal. For the right guest, it is close to ideal; for anyone else, it is simply the wrong place.
The Seminyak sanctuary takes a maximum of six guests across five rooms, with three hostesses, so the care is unusually close and the mood sociable — shared dinners, a flexible day of unlimited spa, yoga and meals, a personal driver for outings. The rooms are pretty in a bohemian-Indonesian way, with stone-bath bathrooms open to the greenery, set around a pool and garden cabanas. It is polished, warm and genuinely restorative for those who want it.
The honest framing is the model itself. You are buying a hosted, all-inclusive week rather than a room, and the experience leans heavily on the company of other women and the attentiveness of the team — wonderful if that is what you want, claustrophobic if it is not. For solo female travellers, women after a reset, or friends wanting a soft landing in Bali, Bliss fills a niche the island's villa resorts do not even attempt.
